Air Quality Alert(s)

Air Quality Alert issued February 3 at 9:27AM MST by NWS Tucson AZ

AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT WEDNESDAY

Pima County, AZ

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) has issued an
Coarse Particle - for Wind/Dust (PM10D) High Pollution Advisory for
the Rillito (near Marana) area for Wedndesday.

An episode of strong and gusty winds is forecast to generate
widespread blowing dust that may result in local PM-
10 concentrations that pose a health risk. Adverse health effects
increase as air quality deteriorates.

Coarse particulate matter - also known as PM-10 - is an air
contaminant that can aggravate heart and lung disease conditions,
especially in older adults, children, and those with asthma. A
decrease in physical activity is recommended.

Consolidate your travel, stabilize loose soils, slow down or avoid
travel on dirt roads, reduce or eliminate fireplace use, and avoid
using gas-powered lawn equipment.

For details on this High Pollution Advisory, visit the ADEQ internet
site at www.azdeq.gov/forecast/rillito or call 602- 771-2300.

AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM PST THURSDAY

Deschutes County, OR

Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Quality
Advisory until 10 AM PST Thursday.

For the Air Quality Advisory, stagnant air conditions will trap
smoke and other air pollutants near the ground where people breathe.

* People with heart or lung problems and young children are
especially vulnerable. These people should stay indoors while
smoke levels are high.

indoor heating ventilation, cooling, and air purification systems.
* Avoid using wood-burning stoves and other sources of indoor smoke
if possible.
